~~This was a Derek Benfield comedy and was an impressive debut for director Lucy Greaves. It was well prepared and nicely presented, no mean achievement considering the problems with the stage facilities at this venue. Andrew and Zena Robinson as Gilbert and Shirley together with Sharon Hughes as Jane, developed their characters very well, making the most of the humour in the script as the attempts to cover up became more bizarre. The was a fine performance by Tracey Priest as Camille, the French flight attendant, a good foil for Gilbert in their scenes together. Adam Betts as Mark and George Earle as Roger had rather different characters to portray and they did this very well. There was a slight deviation from the script in addressing the right name on a couple of occasions but the experienced cast were not thrown by this and it actually added to the humour.
The set was great and a tribute to the production team, it was also used well. The lighting, costumes and props all added to the overall visual effect. The audience certainly enjoyed the performance and just as important it was evident that the cast also enjoyed performing this play for us. A great team effort, well done.
