Anniversary Concert

Another warm, welcoming reception awaited me in Nunthorpe, this time for their special anniversary variety concert. And wow! What a variety. Added to this was a lovely Afternoon Tea that was presented to every member of the audience with drinks.

On to the show, the first half was a one act play of 30 minutes or so called 'Can You Hear The Music?' which was performed by the youth section and one adult. A lovely storyline which was well delivered by all cast members. Really good use of costumes and set/props which were all oversized to give the audience the illusion that the cast were in fact......small mice!

The second half was a variety show of snippets from past shows by the group. This time, they were joined in part by a live 4 piece band. Some lovely performances, a special mention to the trio of young ladies who sang 'Hold On'. Stunning vocals and your voices blended so well together, Well done!

The first part of the second half was set in wartime. Lovely use of audience anticipation for some lovely old war songs which was added to by the fact the cast entered and exited thorugh the audience which made us feel very involved. Excellent use of wartime authenctic costumes.

The second part of the second half was a snippet from 'Worzel Gummidge'. Not one I have seen before (bad i know) but the bit we were treated to was so funny. Excellently delivered and had the audience in stitches with laughter.

The final part of the second half was an excerpt from their award winning show, 'Time Hop'. A medley from 'Mamma Mia' had the audience singing and clapping along with pure delight. Again, some lovely solo's shone through. To finish, we were transported back to the time of Tina Turner with 'Proud Mary'. A very bold move in my opinion as it is such a big song but you pulled it off.

Congratulations to you all, you should be very proud of yourselves.
