Elstead players was formed in 1982 producing 2 shows a year including murder mysteries, comedy and pantos, this latest production of Annie One Two and Three is a Murder Mystery written by David Summers . Director Brian Godman ensured that this play maintained its pace and mystery throughout. Three sisters are living in a luxurious apartment complex, the eldest Miriam (Denise Cleaver) was brilliant as the dominant sister with her snobbish comments and put downs, her subservient sisters Mary (Sue Gowar) and Martha (Peggy Tilly) both gave very good performances in their roles, not always agreeing with their overbearing elder sibling. A rather complicated play with many twist and turns culminating in the death of Mary after a celebration party. Police were called after the post mortem when morphine was discovered as the cause of Mary’s death and Miriam and Martha received warning letters that they were next on the list. Eric Davison (Terry Gardiner), a good supporting performance as the son of Miriam who did not always see eye to eye with his mother and resented the way she treated her sisters. Ruby Penrose (Janet Padwick) gave a lovely cameo performance as the nosy neighbour. The Warden Estate Manager Patricia Donovan (Kay Padwick) and the rest of the cast helped to make this Murder Mystery a very entertaining evening. The strong realistic set operated by Stage Manager Gary Padwick and his assistant Graham Lonsdale and designed by Ben Tilly. Lighting by Andrew Hearn and Brian Wilkins and Sound by Ben Tilly and Rowan Lonsdale enhanced the atmosphere. The play was thoroughly enjoyed by a packed village hall.
