This was an excellent performance from this very talented young company.

The orphans were all very well cast and Anna-Louise Tyson was a delightful Annie. Emily Morton was excellent as inebriated Orphanage matron, Miss Hannigan, she never let her performance drop for a second. One small criticism, if I may, I thought she would have changed her tap shoes after her routine!!!!! . I thought the orphans rendering of ‘Hard Knock Life’ was quite superb, as was Annie’s performance of ‘Tomorrow ‘, she was well supported by Evie Underwood as Sandy the dog.

There were many fine performances in the show, particularly from Tom Murtagh as Daddy Warbucks, and Olivia Underwood as his secretary Grace Farrell, both superb. I was also very impressed with the villains of the show, Todd Bell as Rooster, and Charlotte Howland as Lily St Regis, their song and dance routine, along with Miss Hannigan, of ‘Easy Street’, was quite superb.I have to say the pair were very likeable villains.

There were some lovely performances from the minor characters, sadly too many to mention. The choral ensembles were excellent, I could see how much hard work had gone into them.

There were some minor sound problems during the first act, but they didn’t detract from the performance. These were fixed for Act 2, well done to the Techies.

Congratulations to Maria and Judith for this excellent production. Costumes were very good and of period.Staging was fairly simple but very effective, and lighting suited the circumstances of the scenes.

An excellent production all round from ‘The Whitehaven Theatre of Youth. Congratulations to everyone concerned.
