Before I talk about the show I would like to mention how good the programme was. It was very professionally put together by Glen Whitmore, and perfectly designed for the theme of the production by Sarah parsons. The Set, although large enough for the big Key Theatre stage, was a bit hit and miss, some scenes looked very good, where others were lacking, but the whole thing was managed very well by Rob Melhuish. The Lighting design and sound were of a professional standard. The Costumes by Tracy Sortwell, were excellent as were the Props by Pete Monteith, Viv Booty and Elaine Edgely.

This was an excellent production with some really good individual performances. The leading role of Annie Oakley in this particular performance was played by Rachel Eyre, who did an excellent job. She sang beautifully, especially “ I Got Lost In His Arms”, danced well, and acted her socks off, with some great facial expressions and characterisation. Glen Whitmore as Frank Butler also sang beautifully, and gave a good performance. Phil Booty was very good as Charlie Davenport. Alex Broadfield did a good job in the dual roles of Foster Wilson and Pawnee Bill. Adam Dudley was very funny as Chief Sitting Bull. Leitina Reuben-Travers and Neil Burton as Dolly Tate and Buffalo Bill, performed with great confidence. The children in the production did very well indeed, as did the rest of the chorus, especially the Choreographer Holly Brown, who put together some excellent routines, and as an individual performer displayed enthusiasm facial expressions and reactions that were a pleasure to watch. Mark AJ Checkley’s Musical Direction was lovely, and the Orchestra were perfectly understated. Rob Bristow’s Direction was spot on, with good pace and delivery, very smooth transition scenes, and well directed measures of comedy and pathos.

This was a most enjoyable Production, and all involved are to be congratulated.
