The MOB is short for Mini Operatic Bunch which is the junior section of Retford Amateur Operatic Society. The age range is 8 to 18. Annie was an excellent vehicle for the group's abilities. I particularly enjoyed the portrayals of Miss Hannigan, Warbucks, Grace, President Roosevelt, Rooster and Lily St Regis. The young girls in the orphanage were delightful. Annie herself was a real charmer. There was a real sense of commitment and enthusiasm from all the members of the cast, but it was Holly who almost stole the show as Sandy, the dog. The set was great and I congratulate the back stage crew on their efficiency with the scene-changes. The technical aspects were in good hands and the costumes were extremely good. Paul O'Leary's 12 strong orchestra accompanied very well. I understand their ages range between 14 and 21. The end result, with tuneful singing and varied dance routines and with notable acting skills was a most enjoyable production. Well done.
