Arbroath Musical Society's 2014 production was "Annie" one of the most performed musicals in the world and they rose to the occasion by staging a delightful show of the highest quality. In the title role, Georgia Gibson was in outstanding form for a young lady of such tender years. Not only did she have a lovely singing voice, her stage presence and acting skills were well beyond her eleven years - definitely a star not only for the future, but now! The pivotal comedy role of Miss Hannigan was equally well performed by Georgina's mum Tracy Gibson, who also played the part to the highest standard. David Mathieson was in excellent form as Daddy Warbucks with a very nice singing voice. The other comedy duo of Rooster Hannigan and Lily St Regis were excellently portrayed by Jimmy Gray and Sara Whitton ("Easy Street" was superb). Eileen Masson played an excellent Grace Farrell with a lovely singing voice. The remainder of the adult cast were equally talented and the Orphans often stole the show with their extremely well staged and choreographed numbers. Add to this excellent chorus singing and dancing and marvelous sets and you had an evening of musical theatre of the very highest standard. Thank you, Arbroath M.S.!
