Sophie Stilwell was a lovely Annie, who portrayed her character with charm and confidence and sang “Tomorrow” beautifully. She handled Sandy very well and had good command of her considering it was opening night. Her fellow orphans were a very believable group of young ladies who got the show off to great start with their “Hard Knock Life”. Anne Hughes as Miss Hannigan epitomised the character completely and gave us a lively, strong and controlled performance. Stewart Farmer’s portrayal of Daddy Warbucks was perfect and Trevor Oldham made an excellent President Roosevelt. Imogen Willetts was a delightful Grace Farrell and good PA. Colin Adams (Bert Healy) together with the Boylan Sisters (Carol Rallings, Alison Ridout and Julie Theaker) delivered “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” with enthusiasm and made the radio show come alive. The orphans’ mimicking them in the orphanage was one of the highlights of the production. Daniel “Reggie” Regelous and Claire Hughes (Rooster and Lilly) brought fun and humour to the performance, which with their singing of “Easy Street” and Miss Hannigan joining in the choreographed dance, we had another highlight. All the supporting roles were well executed with good support from the chorus; everyone involved should be pleased with the outcome which provided a great finalé to a most enjoyable show
