We were delighted to be invited to this company who have rejoined Noda after a couple of years' absence. And what a reunion it was with a superb production of the ever-popular "Annie" with a cast of 41 talented youngsters. In the title role Imogen Walker was an absolute dream - her singing and acting were of the very highest standard well beyond her 14 years. She commanded the stage from beginning to end and showed every emotion in the book. Definitely a young lady with a future on stage!. There were other very talented characters on stage. In the demanding role of Daddy Warbucks was 12-year-old Nicoll Butter, who, despite a microphone problem during his first appearance, also carried the dramatic content of the piece despite his tender years. Alice Robson was a powerful Miss Hannigan and her comedy dance in "Easy Street" was a hoot. 13-year-old Eilidh Watt played a very mature Grace Farrell, well supported by the other servants in the Warbucks household while Douglas Taylor gave a convincing portrayal of President Roosevelt. I could go on for pages detailing excellent young performers but space does not permit save to say that the whole cast of orphans, servants and named characters all pulled well above there weight with a very nicely sung cameo by Tasmin Glass as the star-to-be in "NYC". Well done Youngstars. I look forward to my next visit. BUT - please have Angus Council do something about the banging balcony door which shook our seats every time members of the young audience came and went!!!
