It is difficult knowing where to start with a production with so much going for it so I will start with the production team. The staging of this was fresh and full of pace with some excellent innovative choreography, high quality costumes and all supported by a very well controlled orchestra under the baton of Jack Hopkins.
Any production of Annie needs an exceptional performer in the title role and it certainly had it on the Thursday in Kasey Robinson. She had a sunny smile and she sang, acted and danced the part perfectly. She was well backed up by a group of girls featuring Emily Hardy as the mischievous Molly. Every time the group appeared they lit up the stage.
The adult performers certainly held their own with sterling performances from Steph Coleman(Miss Hannigan), Andy Jones(Oliver Warbucks), Tom Fletcher(Rooster) and Kellie Humphrey(Lily St. Regis). Lauren Key was delightful as Grace Farrell showing what a talented singer and actress she is. There was also a lovely little cameo part from Ben Coleman as Bert Healey. All the named characters played their parts well and there was some first class singing and dancing from the chorus as well as the principals. Well done to all involved!
