This was a very good production from the adult and new generation sections of WADAMS. There were some lovely performances from the principal characters. Special mention though must go to Layla Nicol, playing the title role of Annie, her singing and acting was terrific .She was closely followed by Isabelle Pears as Molly, and the rest of the orphans. They made a very formidable team. Victoria Vaughan played the gin soaked orphanage matron ,very well, and Jack Pike was a very convincing Oliver Warbucks. Mark Stilwell, as Rooster and his partner Lily St Regis, played by Chelsea Fisher, made a good villainous pair. Daniel O’Hagan was a good Bert Healey, as well as playing other minor parts, he’s a very versatile character. Chairman Eric Finley, was a good Franklin D Roosevelt, it must have been pleasant being pushed around in a wheelchair during his performance. All the minor parts were well played, Grace and Drake, and the lovely Boylen Sisters. The solos, trios, quartets and chorus ensembles were all well sung. Well done to everyone taking part.

Lighting, sound and scenery were generally very good, well done to Gareth and his crew. Well done to MD Mark and his orchestra, playing in the recently refurbished understage, for the first time. The music was good, and wasn’t overpowering, which it can tend to be in  the theatre pit from time to time.

Well done to the full company for an excellent evening’s entertainment, and it was good to know that the society had full houses for the whole run. As always the society hospitality was exemplary.
