Annie is a feel good with songs that everyone knows from the children to adults, on the night I attend there were quite a few children in the audience.
I thought Brierley Hill put on a entertaining show and the audience seemed to enjoy it which is a good test.
The production team with a new director should be well pleased , the orchestra led by George did an excellent job with well drilled singing from the children.Izzy Westley-Smith played Annie on the night I attended sharing the role with Isabella Cook, Izzy brought the right elements to the part endearing herself to the audience (she was a little too clean as were the rest of the orphans and what happen to her curly hair ). the rest of the orphans were excellent, they also shared their roles on alternative nights.
Once I got my head around a man playing Mrs Hannigan I warmed to Mark Horn's potrayal you could see the orphans really hated her. John Leaman as Daddy Warbucks played his part well. Sarah Coussens gave a convincing performance as Grace. As Rooster and Lily St Regis Tom Robinson and Rebecca Thorne worked well specially in the dance routines choreographed by Anna Forster.
All the rest of the cast were convincing and Sandy the dog produced the usual aah's from the audience.
A delight evenings enterainment .Congratulations to all concerned
