~~Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” is probably one of the well known and most popular whodunits of all time and The Grange Players once again come up trumps with this performance of the stage play. The story of ten guests who receive invites for a weekend jolly at a house on Soldier Island just off the coast of Devon, systematically get bumped off in line to a child nursery rhyme “Ten Little Soldier Boys” which is depicted on the wall and ten soldier figurines on the mantel piece. The guests eventually realise this and the game begins! Producer Rachel Waters assembled a fine cast of principles all of whom give strong performances each depicting their respective characters well from an old retired general to the Cornish Housekeepers. Rachel also came up with ingenious ways of killing off each one in turn with clever use of the set and lighting. Grange Players always amaze me with their close attention to detail with set, lighting and costumes which add quality to the overall production. All in all it was another fine performance and an excellent evening’s entertainment.
