I was invited to watch a show called “An Evening With ACB” which was a compilation show that was presented by ACross the Boards Theatre School.
Overall I had a pleasant evening. There were many bright young stars in the show and everyone who performed did a great job where you could tell they enjoyed putting on this performance.
It consisted of; musical numbers (both from the junior and senior theater school), poetry readings, solos, jazz numbers, junior and senior ballet, junior gym, duets while also including junior and senior tap dancing.
When all the students were singing and dancing together they had a level of professionalism about them. Their costumes were great and the choreography played to their many strengths.
I especially enjoyed the poetry that was delivered - those that spoke remembered their lines exceptionally well whilst also clear and articulate.
The ballet numbers were well choreographed and the students moved gracefully around one another all while showing their lovely smiles where the feeling of joy filled the room. The drama pieces were acted well where the students had wonderful expressions and you could feel what they were trying to convey.
Both the solos and duets were sung to the best of their abilities, but sadly the sound balance was off and I struggled to hear some of the lyrics. The tap pieces were performed well as the choreography was inventive and fun.
My stand out performance of the night was from the senior modern jazz group who danced exceptionally well to a musical piece from the musical Cats. The character expressions were fabulous and the dancing was smooth and spot on.
A million dreams (from the Greatest Showman) was the final number, performed by the junior and senior students. It was wonderful to hear the younger children perform alongside the older students and the signing was a beautiful touch for the final song of the evening.
This theatre school is filled with great talents where everyone who performed did a fantastic job, giving an honorable mention to Matilda Hulley (who stole the show), Amelia Holloway, Patience Cosgrave,Lola Connor-Emmott and Elyssa Rowell for their outstanding contributions.
I thank you for the invite for myself and my guest and do hope to see future performances from you.
