The Fat Lady Sings in Little Grimley.
Directed by : David Green
Gordon, Margaret, Joyce and Bernard are back to tackle yet another threat to their survival this time in the shape of a rival, a newly formed group in their village who are determined to upstage them with an award winning musical. The wayward committee pull together to devise and ingenious plan that unfortunately does not work. When their plan is discovered by the rival society’s house manager, he is not happy at all, and things start to look rather grim for Little Grimley. But it is never over until ‘The Fat Lady sings’.
All the characters were very believable, with Linda Graves as the practical Margaret, Digby Singleton as the ambitious and scheming Gordon, David Neve in the role of the boorish banana-loving Bernard, with Sue Singleton playing Joyce, the enthusiastic simpleton. I thought each member of the cast were supporting each other well with good timing and stage presence which brought out all the humour of this play. The Entertainers have now presented the trilogy of Little Grimley’s.
Old Folks
Directed by : Sarah Atkinson
Set in the day room of an old folk’s home, Leonard is a new arrival and the only man in the home. The ladies, all with different characters and backgrounds nearly come to blows over him, while he tries to fathom out the mysteries of bingo and the tea time wrangles, and random medicine assignment.
I thought that all the characters were very well cast, they all displayed their very different personalities well. I really enjoyed the performance by Sue Singleton as Betty, her facial expressions were excellent. I think the marker of approval for this type of theatre has to be the audience, and judging by the laughter it was obvious how much they had enjoyed their evening out. Well done Entertainers.
