This was my first visit to the “Unnamed Players” who presented an “An Evening of Comedy” for our entertainment at the “Prescot and Methodist Church Hall” Prescot and I am happy to say an evening of comedy is what we were given. With a blank stage some props and a few costumes the company produced a no thrills entertaining enjoyable evening. The evening started off with a short one act play Called “Last Tango in Little Grimley” by David Tristram, a comedy about the local amateur drama Group’s AGM and the production they decide to stage in order to save their society. There were some talented actors in the cast who worked well together performing with good comic timing and treating us to some good characterizations. The cast included Gordon (Eric Lawton), Bernard (Jon Holden) Joyce (Pauline Doyle) and Margaret (Vicki Doherty). The first half of the evening concluded with a very entertaining Monologue written and performed by Norman Weston. The second part of the program included more Monologues written and read by Pat Sephton and four short comedy sketches, three from the pen of Frank Gibbons and one from A J Hewitt, where the above mentioned actors were joined by four more talented performers, who included Gary Conley, Ken Ashton, Georgina Earle and Linda Jeffries. Throughout the evening the dialogue was taken at just at the right pace by the actors and diction was good meaning the words could be heard and the action followed and enjoyed by the audience. Well done to Producer/ Director Enid Pennington and everyone involved in this pleasant enjoyable evening, thank you for your warm welcome and for inviting me, I will not forget Semolina Pankhurst, I hope to see you again in the future.
