Director – Elliot Huxtable clearly let his inventive juices flow in this production of Amadeus. As usual with the team at Lindley Players their audience was treated to some of the best stagecraft locally...

Salleri – Larry Dobin

Masterful; egocentric; strong – word perfect – a flawed human being who made his own life miserable with fear of losing status. Mozart - the ‘Rock Child’ of the age loomed large on his personal landscape. Salleri was played with ease, authority and conviction – totally convincing.

Mozart - Carl Harbottle

The musical genius and thorn in the side of Salleri – was powerfully played by Carl.  He swaggered, was selfish and thoughtless – breaking established conventions.  A salacious, wild child! There was little to endear this brat to the audience - save the magnificent music he manifested! Clearly job done!

Constanze - Leanne Lines

I enjoyed the shading that Leanne brought to the role, convincing and sympathetic with a degree of naivety. Well played. Moments of relief from the intense nature of the piece came from several cameos - particular of note was Sarah Tetley – secure in the role of Emperor Joseph II. As usual the stagecraft of the ensemble made changes of scene seamless and provided the glue that held this intense evening together. Only used once - and although I appreciate the desire to produce a particular effect - I personally am not a fan of shining lights onto the audience. It is uncomfortable for some, if not all, of the assembly. While that may be as intended, it can engender discomfort and a hiccup in continuity. However, bringing the stage set into the audience space worked wonderfully well with excellent projections artwork onto the wall of the auditorium.

In total bravura, performances by all concerned - congratulations.
