Tonight, I had the pleasure of watching WBOS Youtheatre smash the evening with some talented and incredibly promising performances. The evening was nicely packed with a mix of song and dance choices and it was an interesting order to the programme but overall, it did not disappoint. Hard working and extremely committed, WBOS Youtheatre were on top form tonight. I was pleased to recognise a few faces and names from their previous production We Will Rock You in November 2021.
Tonight, was advertised as an AmA-Zing evening of songs from Musical Theatre but the audience were also treated to some dance numbers which let the company loose with some highly energetic and impressively tight choreography. Each member of the company had something unique and genuine to give with some AmA-Zing vocals and AmA-Zing spirit which complimented the evening which also helped compliment the company on stage.
Some of the choices clearly stood out and highlighted some wonderful talent and other choices simply shone with team work, enthusiasm, smiles and fun. The stage was well used and every member of the company looked like they were enjoying themselves immensely by taking charge of the space comfortably.
I was drawn to the versatility, the style, the confidence, the strength, the skill and the hard work tonight. I especially enjoyed the tap dancing, the Thriller Medley which was incredibly mesmerising and was led very confidently, the song "Ex Wives" from the musical Six which is a personal favourite of mine with each performer having the right approach and distinction with their vocals, then The Fame Medley which ended the show with a high and a very happy, smiley, wavey Jake Dale!
There were of course too many great performers and moments to mention and as I mentioned earlier each performer had something truly unique to give and each stood out in their own way. However, it has to be said in my opinion the evening belonged to young performer, Honor Whitehouse who interacted with her surroundings and others with an awareness that demonstrated a subtle but strong presence and always with a smile.
Thank you for the warm welcome and thank you again for inviting me to a wonderful evening of entertainment. I am looking forward VERY MUCH to the next show which is
Matilda The Musical planned for November 2022.
