This play based on the television series, showed how versatile the members of Trinity Players are.  Set in the Cafe Rene in Nouvion, the Germans are after the painting of the fallen Madonna.  The real painting is located in the kitchen inside a knockwurst's sausage while a forgery is also in the kitchen.  The audience were treated to numerous catchphrases and double-entendres and how they enjoyed them, laughing from start of finish in this funny production.

This very talented cast gave us some memorable performances.  Paul Wescott gave us a great Rene well supported by Lynette Coffey as his wife, the tone deaf, Edith.  I really enjoyed the cameo performance of Ann Dempsey as Madame Fanny.  I am also unsure how Daniel Goodreid as Officer Crabtree kept a straight face with all his miss-pronunciation's.  Mary Singh as Michelle of the resistance played her role in many disguises as did Ray Lawrence as Leclerc.   Simon Baker as Gruber was a joy to watch as were Stephanie Mills (Helga) and Steven Blower (Herr Flick).  This was a strong cast who supported each other well.

The costumes were well put together and looked great on this well designed set.

Director Hellie England did a fine job with this play.  The cast worked hard and it showed in this colourful producti
