All Together Now! (presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI)) is a brilliant concept - and one that Keighley MTC clearly tackled head on.
The performance materials (backing tracks and slide projections) were supplied by MTI, and hundreds of musical theatre companies around the world were given the chance to perform this concept in a “window of opportunity” between 12th & 15th November 2021. It clearly was “history in the making”.
The creative team of Peter Whitley (co-director), Judith Chapman (co-director & choregrapher) and John Sandland (Musical Director) brought this whole thing to life – and they certainly know how to bring the best out of the Company. The energy and enthusiasm from every person on stage was oozing…and it needs to be bottled! It was so refreshing to see everyone clearly loving being back on stage.
Every person gave fabulous solid performances in every number…and every single person had a chance to “shine” – whether they were singing solos’, duets, trios, group numbers, dancing…you name it, they delivered their performances with such dedication.
Many of the musical numbers that were performed were well known, but there were also some lesser known numbers that made the hairs stand up on the back of your neck – Back to Before (Ragtime) was spellbinding, superbly sung by Carmelina and The New World (Songs for a New World) was brilliantly brought to life by Carmelina, Leanne, Andrew, Mark & Lee. And of course those toe tapping favourites We’re All In This Together (Disneys High School Musical), Consider Yourself (Oliver!), Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Disney & Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins), with the finale choice of You Can’t Stop The Beat (Hairspray) gave the whole company the chance to do what they do best – entertain the audience with those infectious tunes and cleverly devised dance routines. The audience left the performance on a real high.
My congratulations go to everyone involved in the production. Keighley MTC has defied everything that was stacking up against them. They have taken the bull by the horns and forged ahead where many others might have just sat back and waited for the pandemic to be “over”!
Thank you Keighley MTC for keeping amateur theatre very much alive. This was such a special thing to be a part of.
