This time it was the turn of the ‘Debut and Spotlight’ youngest of the Wymsical Theatre Group to perform their end of term show, on an open stage accompanied by piano and drums.
The opening number ‘The Crest Of A Wave’ commenced with some of the nine in the company entering through the audience which was followed by ‘How Deep Is The Ocean’ which they sang out well. Rosie Robson, Neve Raven and Amelia Drummond sang ‘Beyond the Sea’ and the full company sang ‘Sur la Plage’, great fun including bucket, spades and beach ball! Lexi Ford spoke up well with ‘Seal Lullaby’ followed by some swash buckling pirates with ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ with plenty of good movement.
Pippa Bond gave a composed and tuneful version of ‘No Moon’ and the company sang clearly with ‘The Skye Boat Song’. There followed a range of company numbers and I particularly enjoyed a well projected ‘The Owl And The Pussycat’ and a colourful ‘An Octopus’s Garden’, with dancing with ribbons. Jessie Preece gave a well-spoken ‘Sea Fever’ and Catalina Jalim used her strong voice well plus expression with ‘ How Far I’ll Go’ .
Evie Bakewell and Maddi Chown joined in well along the way and the show was rounded off with plenty of tidy dancing in ‘Sailors’ Hornpipe’ and the final company number ‘We Saw The Sea’.
Directed by Pamela Watkins, all looks good for their future development.
