This was KADOS member Jim Smith’s second panto and a partial follow up to Robbie the Robot.  Two of the characters from that panto, Mrs Vacuum played by David Francis and Alotoflese played by Dilys Hollinghurst appeared in this panto but having travelled back in time.

The curtain opened a very colourful seen by the Queen of Atlantic ship and I was very impressed with the costumes the cast and chorus were wearing.  Also I think that most of the ladies in the audience also would have loved to have Tritonia’s headdress, played by Lee Moore.

The chorus were clearly enjoying taking part it the show especially Karen Spooner who was clearly enjoying being one of the cannibals and it was lovely to see the different ages on stage together.

I enjoyed the take on Three Little Maids with Three Little Cannibals, sung well by Violet Redfern, Amber Jones and Annushka Hasleham.

I loved Captain Rehab played by Jim Smith who did not say much apart from aha and also sang about Whales when the word whales was mentioned!

Eloise King who played Jim the Cabin Boy showed off her singing skills along with Apollinara Poshington-Smythe played by Abigail Hollinghurst.  Rodney Bowdler who played Number One kept the crowd laughing with his role and also the water gun which some of the audience got wet!

The Claw played by Jess Squire got the boos that the character deserved and I loved the decorators, played by Pauline Bowles, Janet Boydell and Ann Dean who kept appearing at odd occasions and were told to get off by Producer Lynne Owens and then by the Claw.

All parts were well taken and I liked the play on words.  There was a chance for the children to come up onto the stage and sing a song that Persephane, played by Trish Petterson had been singing with the young cast.  Unfortunately there were not many children in the audience so some very older children were pulled to come up including yours truly!

This was a very colourful and lovely production and thank you to KADOS for inviting me to come and see this production.
