The youngsters in this production enthusiastically took us down the rabbit hole and transported us to the strange land and characters of Wonderland. Newcomer Jessica Connell both looked and acted the part confidently and graciously. She was well supported by the engaging Small Alice, Hailey Honey and the more domineering Tall Alice, Eilidh Smith. All the other players gave their roles their own slant: the comic pair Hailey Burt and Taylor Lewandowski as Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee delighted with the mix up ‘twist’; The White Rabbit, Sarah Tait, duly tripped back and forth frantically being late (loved the big watch), the Caterpillar, Callum Mack, was a revelation in his costume and solo and the Mad Hatter, Rebecca Hardie, and March Hare, Aaron Ross, were mad enough for all. The Queen of Hearts, Lisa Muir, was suitably strident and forceful (well dressed in red) and a good contrast to the milder King, Aiden Johnston. The narration was cunningly delivered by a three part Cheshire Cat, namely Hannah Reid, Katie Barclay and Coimhe Dingwall and humour was also part of the role of the Door Knob played by Khyra Smith. And who can forget the Dodo played by Robert Bell? Calm good sense prevailed with Megan Bell in the guise of Mathilda, Alice’s sister. The youngsters were keen to sing, dance and react. Memorable moments such as the sight of the Rock Lobsters, the beastliness and dancing of the Flower Girls and the frantic painting of the roses were there throughout the show, not to mention the dread of the Card Men.  The chorus supported the main players and numbers like the Caucus Race, the Unbirthday Song and Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da all came across well and made good use of the space on the stage. All was colourful and upbeat. Production officials can be proud of their cast who came up trumps in this fantastic world. Well done to all for an entertaining evening.
