ALITaking much of her inspiration from the Tim Burton film this production was the brainchild of a writer and director who chose one of Lewis Carols best known and best loved stories for this show. Very much a home grown musical from just about every aspect those involved delivered a fascinating outcome.
The ideas were fresh and new but well-structured to ensure all the characters you would expect to be included could be easily identified both in style and costume. Whilst at times some of the dialogue was a little difficult to hear a hugely imaginative script ensured the basic story line was there to be enjoyed. A script that brought the characters to life in a special way.
It would be invidious to make mention of specific individuals as all in this production played their roles admirably. The music selection was carefully chosen if sometimes a little loud so a fast moving string of rhyme was not always audible from a few of the performers. Dialogue in a higher pitch was a little difficult to understand
This production benefited hugely from innovative high quality technology. Projection techniques switching from vivid authentic colour to monochrome were used for woodland scenes, a chess board and castle interior to create an impression of space and depth on an otherwise very simple set that was extremely effective.
Overall however this was vibrant and highly entertaining with a strong talented company delivering a production which delighted the audience and all involved are to be congratulated.
