The TADAMS Youth Cast delivered an enchanting rendition of Aladdin Jr., showcasing remarkable talent and enthusiasm on opening night.
From the first number ‘Arabian Nights’ the audience were hooked. Led by Scott Morgan as Aladdin and Poppy Hardie as Jasmine, the cast brought vibrant energy and commendable performances to the stage. Scott Morgan embodied the role of Aladdin with commendable finesse, it was a terrific performance from a talented young man. “Proud of Your Boy” was a show highlight for me, while Poppy Hardie's portrayal of Jasmine exuded determination and charm and there was a lovely chemistry between them.
The trio of Babkak (Gregor Paterson), Omar (Rio Rennie), and Kassim (Ava-Ruth Cameron), playing Aladdin's loyal friends, added fun, depth and camaraderie to the production as were Emily Goudie, Sofia Ferras-Daly and Freya-Rose Edgar as Isir, Manal and Rajah, the devoted attendants to Princess Jasmine.
The Genie was cleverly portrayed by not one but three human bodies, Gabi Patino Mains, Daniel Wylie and Skye Stirling, uniquely brilliant, delivering their own lines seamlessly while working very well together. All individually charismatic with great expression, antics and comedic flair, their “Friend In Me” performance was nothing short of magical.
Charlie Tucker’s portrayal of The Sultan commanded the stage with impeccable presence and articulate diction, complemented by his majestic beard.
Jonah Phillipson-Masters delivered a convincing foreboding performance as the power-hungry Jafar, while Lennon Milne was highly amusing working with great attention, control and timing with his puppet body, Iago.
All the cast were enthusiastic and well-rehearsed, performing with energy and bags of confidence not common on an opening night.
Congratulations to the Production Team for the attention to detail and clever direction, not forgetting the stage magic from the busy backstage team. Costumes and makeup were stunning and there were great lighting effects, powerful voice-overs, a magic carpet, creative moveable set transporting us to a ‘wondrous place’.
The energy emanating from the Blyth Hall was electric, making for an engaging and memorable theatrical experience.
TADAMS Youth Cast's performance of Aladdin Jr. was a resounding success, leaving the audience captivated and thoroughly entertained.
