Once again the village was entertained with the very popular Pantomime ‘Aladdin’. The Players last produced this Panto in 1997. They all did very well, and the audiences really got behind the cast. As usual it was entirely home produced throughout, with very colourful costumes, excellent scenery, well painted by Kerry Bass. Kathryn Laverick was in the title role of Aladdin and really did her part well.  Her mother, Widow Twanky, was well played, in his own style, by Ray Moores, who somehow portrays his part in a casual type of way, but the audience really get behind him.  Wishee Washee was really well played by Laura Hallett in a good bubbly performance very confidently played.  Hayley Bradley, as the Policeman with her blue flashing helmet, was hardly off the stage, chasing everybody about. The Slave of the Ring was well played by Natalie Moores.  Abanazar was the one who got all the boos and hisses, and was very well played by Lisa Cowley, who didn't mind.  In fact it probably made her be more bad. The Emperor was well played by Andy Cunningham, and his Princess was delightfully played by Imogen Grange, who in the end won the hand of Aladdin. Imogen Hill had a small part as the Town Crier. Pete the Pirate made a small appearance, and was played by Chris Richardson. The Magic Carpet was well done, with members of the chorus carrying it about. We had a very good chorus line who sang really well the well-known songs. Lots of hard work went into the Pantomime to get it onto the stage, but they all did a great job to keep the magic of the Pantomimes as they have done now for 20 years, and, judging by the enthusiasm of the players, they will continue for years to come. Well done Brompton.
