Imagine a sunny Sunday afternoon with joyous sunshine and lots of children and parents queuing at the doors of Borough Green village hall. All expecting a fun afternoon of Aladdin, and they certainly were in for a treat. The production team of Tony Cassidy Director, Barry Payne Musical Director and choreographer Katy Russel certainly gave us just that. This Aladdin with a solid cast moved along nicely. Dialogue in some places could have been delivered swifter.
Sean Chapman as Abanazar the baddy was superb in his role and we did get to hate him, great characterization Sean. Steph Beeken as Aladdin and Evangeline Lusher-Guess as the Princess were teamed well, and yes Aladdin you got your wish of a duet with the Princess and very nice it was too. Wishy Washy Andrew White works his audience. Both PC Peasey and PC Squeezy Ben Newton and Christine Halliday-Saddler had most of the comedy and got in a mess doing it. Well done to both. Widow Twanky looking good in her bright costumes got the banter going with Brian in the audience as only a Dame should do. Supporting roles of the Emperor, Handy Slave of the Ring and the Genie. These being Hamish Urquhart, Charley Woods, Martyn Peale, and Luke Brown. We must not forget the chorus of Townsfolk and the dancing girls - you all looked good and made this Aladdin a great afternoon at the Pantomime. Tony, Barrie and Katy this was a solid pantomime and you should be proud of your cast, as I feel sure you are.
Thank You for inviting Adam and myself to witness a great Production of Aladdin.
