Pantomime time again ? Oh yes it is !! Aladdin was this years choice for LTC and it proved to be a great success. The scenery was colourful and vibrant and set the scenes very well and there was a great choice of musical numbers.
There were some very good characterisations. Aladdin (Tansy) was confidently played with the added bonus of having a strong vocal. She led the number ‘All Alone’ which slowly built with some of the principals followed by the ensemble and then the back stage crew. A very clever number involving everyone. Princess Jasmine (Amy Pettit) looked the part and worked well with Aladdin. Wishee-Washee (Tony Tier) was cheekily played and his confidence grew as the panto moved along. Abanaza (Ross Cryer) was a good baddie and his delivery was clear and strong. I would have liked to have seen perhaps a beard and some head wear to give him some height and make him appear more evil. The Fairy (Shelley Caborn-Harold) was a show stealing delight. Who knew there was a fairy in Aladdin? A lovely twist to the tale but giving a great deal of laughter. Other characters adding to the tale were Widow Twanky (Bryn Marwood),The Genie (Drew Jackson) and his side-kick Slave of the Ring (Kelly Skinner), Grand Vizier (Robin Poole), Emperor (Colin Smithson), Jumana (Amber Marwood) and Choo (Kevin Hornsey).
Overall this was a very entertaining fun filled evening. Well done to the Director Romy Morgan and Congratulations to everyone at LTC and thank you for the invitation.
