Every January there is anticipation and excitement in Crickhowell as it’s Pantomime time!!

This hard working company pull out all the stops to get this community pantomime off the ground

in the winter weather, to the delight of the local  people and all the children.

This year it is Aladdin written by the talented Lesley Alexander, who is also technical lighting expert

for the pantomime.

Opening with a light show, and a lively chorus full of enthusiasm and fun, the talented musicians played lively pop music, including a Sing a Long, to Abba’s Money Money Money.

Full of interesting characters including Alladin played by Kristina Wheaton, Widow Twanky a comedy performance from Russell Walker assisted by Andrew Fryer and a fabulous Genie of the Lamp Rob Jones who is always great fun, his costume was amazing, from his first entrance a great stage presence assisted by his Genie of the Ring well played by Helen Saunders.

Tony D’Anna played a commanding Abanazer and  Cara Perkins as  Princess Lotus sang her solos beautifully, reaching the roof with her top notes, well done, and was a charming princess.

I was amazed by the talent of a Rickshaw Boy Tyler Phillips, who gave a Showstopper performance he is a star in the making!! All other parts were well played.

The Chorus in the pantomime gave their all, singing and dancing with good entries and exits and clear diction, so important in a large theatre like this one.

The Senior and Junior Dancers from Dance Beats were a very high standard with several fabulous routines and excellent costumes. Congratulations to Stage Management Bob Spiers and Team.

Congratulations also go to excellent musical performances from Musical Director Barney Llewellyn-Bowden and all the musicians.

This company should be justifiably proud of their efforts, many congratulations to all and thank you for a marvellous welcome and hospitality.

See you next year!!
