I have had the pleasure of seeing many, many pantomimes over recent years and this was one of the best - no I really mean the BEST ONE I have ever seen. It was simply fantastic from the prologue, given by a wonderful Scheherazade (Keeley Mays), to the final walkdown. The leading characters were all superb - each one so talented in his or her own individual way. It was difficult to believe that Aladdin played by Tom Bell had not been in a panto previously. There were 13 leading characters - not possible to mention everyone individually but suffice to say the "baddies" were really bad - the funny ones very, very funny. The company was led by a great Widow Twankey (Phil Bevington) who also directed this epic production. The Ensemble were brilliant and supportive as were the very talented Junior Dancers. The pantomime Band, led by MD Steve Sanders, ensured that the terrific pace of the show was maintained throughout. The scenery was out of this world as the magical flight on the carpet proved. And what about the COSTUMES - WOW, WOW, WOW simply fantastic in every way. It was obvious that a show of this calibre had taken months of rehearsing. A mention must be given to the stage crew and everyone backstage who work so hard but are never seen. It was a wonderful atmosphere in the theatre thanks again to the f.o.h. team of volunteers . Congratulations to Producer John Hill - you must be so proud of this outstanding production. Well done to EVERYONE involved in "Aladdin".
