To a sell out opening night audience, this Stephen Duckham panto had everything that a panto should have. Cheers, boos, fun, laughter and lots of audience participation.
Kim Arnold led the company as Aladdin, the lad with the magic lamp. She came over really well and had a great singing voice. Alistar Jolliffee as Window Twankey was a real traditional dame, with a costume change for every scene. Alistair jelled well with the audience and had a great rapport with Kevin Wing as Wishee Washee, prompted by the audiece enjoyed many cup's of tea. Wishee's love interest was Notsoshy played by Sally Jolliffee, a really nice role for her. The Princess Jasmine was played by Hannah Dodd. Well acted and a fine voice. I particually enjoyed Lindsay Ann Bryan as the Slave of the Ring. Her Liverpool acent had the audience in stiches. David Draper as Abanazar was the baddie of the piece. Getting lots of boo's from the children in the audience, especially in the walk down. More comedy came from Harry Bowser and Laurie Weston as Policemen Ping and Pong. Judy Wellicome gave a good performance as the Empress, Very regal. The bright light in this panto was the Genie of the Lamp played by Keiran Roberts. The young man has a great future in theatre. For someone so young he came over as very confident.
Using some back projection and some set, this panto looked good. Costumes were colourful and stood out.
Well done to you all.
