For their 70th annual pantomime, Aladdin was written by group members Tony Richards and Liv Maddocks. Their script was innovative, most amusing and entertaining with excellent choice of musical items. Not only that but Tony and Liv also appeared in the show as the Genie of the lamp and the Spirit of the Ring respectively. Both performed extremely well. Jake Wilson was suitably evil as Abanazer and Rebekah Bowen was an excellent choice as Princess Jasmine with Davina Silk's portrayal of Aladdin being very pleasing. The rest of the named roles were fine and the young chorus members were delightful. The set was simple in design leaving plenty of space for movement on stage. The back cloths were excellent and the scene changes took place reasonably smoothly. I must admit I found some of the sound effects rather noisy but they did the job well as did the lighting. Congratulations to the ladies responsible for the costumes...they were superb; the make-up was, too. This was a very enjoyable panto. Well done to all who were in any way concerned with it.
