This modern take on Aladdin worked because the Genie of the lamp delivered all her script in a rap form; also the Slave of the ring was excellent as a Geordie. The script delivery, lighting and costumes were all of an excellent quality. The choreography was brilliant and a special mention must be made of the ballet scene in Act 2, which was superbly performed.
The musicians were on top of their game the whole time but occasionally were a bit strong for some of the performers. The chorus work however was excellent and the projection of all those taking part was much better than seen in some pantomimes.
Overall this was a fine amateur production which I know from having spoken to various members of the audience was thoroughly enjoyed.
