This is the first full length comedy written by Derek Webb based on Agatha Christies Murder Mysteries. The format was very similar to her work with a variety of characters being murdered and the denouement was brought to a triumphant conclusion by Agatha Crusty the amateur sleuth. There were some very good performances in this production. Tim Braddy as Harry, had a convincing accent and very good comic timing. Siobhan Edge as Oliver and Olive, showed her experience in the dual roles. Her attention to detail and facial expressions were first class. Joan Watkinson as Eleanor, as the lovesick chairperson, showed her versatility in this role and John Sangster as the archetypal vicar was very confident with his character. The solid looking set, based on St Ambrose Church Hall was suitably dressed and scene changes were efficiently accomplished by effective lighting and movement of props. Pauline Todd, Director had ensured costumes and props were appropriate for the variety of characters and incidental music had been carefully chosen. Diction from all on stage was excellent but the pace of dialogue together with numerous prompts made the piece laboured at times. I always enjoy my visits to St Ambrose and I look forward to the next production.
