This well known play certainly got off to a good first night. Lianne O'Connor as Beverley is to be congratulated on her performance, never off the stage and sustaining her accent and 'Queen Bee' character throughout. Her ability to use objective correlatives (posh for hand properties) with such dexterity was to be admired.  Kirt Hammonds as the down trodden husband Lawrence was a perfect foyle for Beverley. This pairing  was superbly supported by the other couple played by Amy Walters as Angela and Jez Malpas as Tony. Each of those four showed excellent stagecraft and took everything the scrip offered to create their characters. Then of course we were treated to a marvellous comeo character from Cathy Rackstraw as Susan. She proved how important it is to use the face as well as the voice. Rachel Ingham is to be applauded for firstly gathering such a wonderful cast together and secondly for her tight yet very fluid directon. As ever with Festival Players, the set design from Andrew McGowan was outstanding and the properties team did and equally brilliant job in furnishing it.. An excellent evening's entertainment.
