A World of Song

A World of Song was the title and theme of this year's Great Horton Theatre Company’s summer concert. Consisting of the audience taken through a diverse, cross-cultural musical repertoire on a musical journey across continents to countries including England, Ireland, Scotland, Denmark. Holland, France, Spain, Morocco, China, Brazil, Jamaica and finally the USA. The show not only included song but also poetry reading by Peter treating the audience to featuring everything from traditional regional folk tunes to modern international pop arrangements. Soloists included in the first half “Streets of London” sung by Karen, “Casablanca” by Geraldine, “Slow Boat to China” by Audry and Peter and to close the first half “Heal the World” lead by Sandra and the Choir.

Before the start of the second half, we were treated to Richard and Janet’s Quiz with the Noda team finishing with only two points off a full score so doing well.

In the 2nd half the journey continued moving to as far as Brazil, Jamaica and the USA with the show closing with “what a Wonderful World” led by Val and the choir.

Congratulations to the MD Ken Gilroy in his different choice of music and the arrangements that were performed.

As usual a fantastic afternoon out and wonderfully looked after. Looking forward to seeing you all again in December.
