~~The best thing about any Murder Mystery is to keep the audience guessing until the very end and this play does just that. The script is well crafted and the company made the most of it.
The general pace was a little slow in places but it was essential for us, the audience, to understand the nuances of the family, which meant some rather laboured dialogue in the first half. Of course, that is down to the author and the cast moved it along as best they could.
The standing set was beautiful and the costumes perfect for the play. Despite not using mics, we heard every word of the dialogue; not just down to the acoustics of the venue but mainly the ability of the cast. I was kept guessing about the identity of the murderer throughout the play and even when there were only two characters left I still got it wrong! There were many moments though to savor in this who-dun-nit mystery. However, general characterization was exceptionally good especially over the many different deaths!
All the cast were good and portrayed their characters well, however I would mention Lynda Parker (Emily Tomb) for just the right amount of menace and unpleasantness. Roger Minors for a strong and sustained performance as Perry Potter and Nicki Cresswell for making Monica a real sex bomb!
The set was well constructed and sound effects appropriate and on cue. A mixture of comedy and mystery, this play kept you guessing through all the twists and turns and I congratulate Carol Sealey, producer and director, assisted by David Norster, for maintaining the audiences full interest throughout the whole evening. An excellent show! Well done!
