Just to give readers an insight into the concept of the production this is a brand new musical inspired by the story of Thumbelina by Hans-Christian Anderson with an original score by Jessie Threadgold and dialogue written by Andrew Merryweather Daisy Newlyn & David Watts.

It was a pleasure to review this brand new production that was delightful and enchanting in telling the story of Thumbelina and her adventures with a collection of animal’s birds and flower people.

A cross between a musical /fairy story it had a great story line, and some quirky characters.

Clair Norman as Mouse Kiley Threadgold as Mole Georgina Benton as Swallow John Tabor as Cockchafer and Marion Wells as Toad Mother.

All had unique characters in this production and were imaginatively dressed with good make up to add to the spirit of the show.

Molly May Stevenson as Thumbelina did well in the main character and gave a good interpretation of her character.

I like the Cockchafer’s Courtship Dance that was very amusing and well choreographed. Act 1 brought most of the characters into the story except Mole and Swallow both of whom figured in important parts in Act 11.

Kiley Threadgold as Mole was very good and Georgina Benton as Swallow gave a competent performance.

I thought Mouse played by Clair Norman was a lovely homely character and very well played.

Grandfather played by Chris Ford and his grandchildren played by Alice Watts and Grace De’Ath were a little separate unit bringing the story together in a charming manner.

The ending in the land of the flowers gave the show a happy end, and we found Thumbelina rescued by the Prince of the land of the flower people taking her for his Queen.

A very pretty show with some super props and effects all adding to a sort of enchanted feel, which I am sure the children in the audience loved.

This show has a lot of potential and is one that I could see schools using beautifully.

Quite modern with dialogue and a show I can see with a few tweaks here and there being popular for youth groups to perform.

Supported by a small all female band led by Jessie it was tuneful and enjoyable, Well done on all your hard work.
