Set in Salford, Manchester in 1958 / 59 and tells the story of the lives of a Mother and Daughter sharing a one bed roomed flat.

Mother Helen (Faye Hatch) and her daughter Jo (Katie Johnson) move into a one bedroom flat right opposite the Gas Works.  With Jo not working it’s all that Helen can afford for the two of them. And with them both throwing insults at each other a change is due.   Helen is in a relationship with Peter (Ollie Roberts) and moves out when they finally get married.  Jo meets and falls in Love with sailor Jimmie (Jerome Pinnock-Glasgow) and soon becomes pregnant by him.    With Jimmie at sea and Helen now living in a big house Jo’s friend Geoffrey moves in with her to look after her in the final stages of her pregnancy.   During this time Helen moves back in after splitting up with Peter, Geoffrey moves out and the play goes full circle with Jo about to give birth.

Claire Armstrong-Mills put together a strong cast who worked well together.  The cast certainly had a lot of dialogue to learn especially Faye and Katie.   The set looked good, spilt into three with most of the play taking place in the central section, the flat.  Costumes suited the time frame of the piece.

Congratulations to all involved.
