This play written in1958,still stands the test of time when performed in the hands of this talented group. The cast of five all very experienced performers brought a solidarity and a confidence to the stage, their characters all beautifully rounded, Helen (Stephanie Heaney) woman of questionable morals and Jo(Amy Campbell) her pregnant daughter move into a seedy flat were life is tough,Peter(Paul Metcalfe) a companion to Helen and Amanda who likes a drink and does not help the situation. You see Jo in silhouette through a window talking with "a boy"( Huw Rose)who turns out to be a coloured sailor, the father of her unborn child,Jo is then befriended by Geoffery(Michael Heyes) who turns out to be gay,but kind and caring to Jo. Helen leaves Jo alone as she decides to marry Peter but it turns out to be a mistake and she moves back to Jo's flat, Helen badgers Geoff continuously until he decides to move on,Jo asks Helen were he has gone only to be told he has gone shopping, Helen leaves and Jo is left alone believing that Geoff will come back, sadly he does not. An excellent evenings drama well presented, a good set and a top class production by Chris Taylor, lovely to see her back..Thanks to Poulton Drama for the welcome and the hospitality.
