Mississippi Southern Bell, Blanche Dubois, who, after encountering a series of personal losses, seeks refuge with her sister and brother-in-law in a dilapidated New Orleans apartment building.
So sets the scene for a very powerful production from Trinity Players.
The role of Blanche was played by Jennifer Holyhead, who gave an outstanding performance as the woman spiralling into a nervous breakdown. Jennifer must have been drained after every performance as she was hardly off stage and had a huge chunk of dialogue to learn. A very compelling piece of acting. Aarron Armstrong-Craddock was truly convincing as the bullying, and wife beating Stanley Kowalski, husband of Blanches Sister, Stella. Sasha Marsh played Blanche’s Sister Stella (Stanley’s Wife); she gave a fantastic performance and again was hardly off stage. These three worked so well together you were gripped by their performances.
Dan Barnes as Stanley’s friend Mich gave good support and strong support also came from Leigh-Ann James and Dan McCloskey as Eunice and Steve Hubbell who lived upstairs from the Kowalski’s. I also felt that these lesser roles also gave good support, James Thomas, Matt Cotter, Andrew Steward and Robyn Klein-Christoffels (who played various roles).
All of the actor’s accents were good and never slipped during the performance. The set looked good depicting the small two room apartment where the piece took place.
Many congratulations to you all on this great piece of theatre.
