A Star Shower of Show Tunes & Singin` in the Rain Jr

Prior to the main event we were treated to a potpourri of songs from various musicals that were performed with great gusto by the very young cast, with some very talented soloists in their midst, showing promise for the future.  It was all soundly choreographed and staged, just unfortunate some soloists were overpowered due to continual sound problems.

The second half brought us the junior version of Singin in the Rain, a lovely light hearted musical, which was well played by the enthusiastic cast who gave their all.

Kian Mosley as Don Lockwood, gave a sound performance, along with Dexter Gregory who was a convincing  Cosmo Brown, tumbles and all. Shannon Foss as Kathy Selden, was charming and Liberty Young as Lina Lamont suitably shrill, both were excellent, acting with good vocals.   All of the many parts were played with great enthusiasm, amongst them Zoe Frost, a splendid Dora Bailey, Cerys Johnson as R F Simpson and Millie Myhill as Zelda. The energetic chorus all worked hard, not only singing and dancing, but moving scenery, and they certainly added to the success of the performance.

With minimal effective scenery and colourful costumes, this was a show to be enjoyed.
