From the moment I was handed a programme for LIDOS's show, I knew it would be a 'winning show' - the programme took the form of a golden Oscar's envelope(and the winner is.....!) which opened up to reveal all the information that was needed - it definitely set the tone! LIDOS are so clever at devising new and innovative ideas to give their shows such a professional feel. The show was skilfully compered by Graham Siddle, whose snippets of backstage stories kept up the pace of each section to a high degree; the programme of songs had been chosen with great care and was performed with energy and enthusiasm.

The Director/Musical Director, Rachel Tustain, with her band of talented musicians, had worked very hard to give the audience a first-class evening of musical blockbusters - from 'Opening Night' ('The Producers') to the spine-tingling section from 'Billy Elliot' - the company's chorus singing was of an extremely high standard with solo singers confident and talented. Productions of this type rely a great deal on the staging, dance and movement. In this respect, LIDOS are fortunate to have two excellent choreographers, Emma Tempest and Donna Wells, who created some dazzling work for the cast. They devise effective dance moves which suit dancers and movers - no mean feat!

I must congratulate the backstage and front-of-house teams for their continued hard work - seen and unseen but so important! A friendly greeting as you come into the theatre, excellent costumes (matching shoes!!), good lighting and sound all makes for a fabulous night at the theatre.

The Juniors gave their usual top-notch performance especially in the 'Mathilda' section - they sang 'Revolting Children' with great gusto!

Even a false fire alarm, resulting in the entire cast and audience spilling out onto Millenium Square so efficiently, did not dampen any enthusiasm for the remainder of the evening. To quote from one of the songs in their 'Jersey Boys' section - 'Oh! What a Night' - Congratulations to them all!
