I must congratulate Jenny Daniels and Lisa Carolan for reviving the Thornton Cleveleys Youth Theatre after its closure in 20ll. They have been able to give performance opportunities to so many children in the area and I am certainly encouraged by the talent on show.
The Production Team, Jenny Daniels, Director, Lisa Carolon, Musical Director and Joanna Hindle, Choreographer had put together a fast paced, vibrant and lively show. All on stage appeared confident, focused and enthusiastic as they moved from one musical item to another. From the opening of Act I we were treated to numbers from Our House, through a range of shows including Annie, Grease, Jersey Boys and Hairspray and many others. The various shows came so fast it was a pleasure deciding which number came from which show without looking at the programme.
The pace was staggering and I am sure many members of the audience were amazed at how much could be done in the allotted time.Opportunities were given to many students to demonstrate their differing talents. I must congratulate everyone for the precision and maturity of all performances. All on stage appeared to be enjoying every number and this certainly came across to those watching. All costumes were appropriate to each musical and here I must mention all chaperones, members of the wardrobe department and all who ensured the many performers were on time for every entrance. It was obvious that the wide range of musical numbers covered tonight had been carefully chosen to showcase the many individuals and groups who performed tonight. As the cast previewed their next show “Oklahoma”, as part of the Finale, I could not believe the evening had passed so quickly.
Well done to all involved. I believe that the decision to revive this Company was a very wise one.
