As always I received a very warm welcome to KDTS's show, a good start to what was to be a delightful evenings entertainment.

Musical director, Barbara Hockey, has put together an interesting and varied programme, containing many numbers not often seen in this type of show. Barbara had obviously worked very hard with the company, as the singing was a good standard and had been well rehearsed, some of the numbers had very good harmonies too. A very well put together five piece band, gave excellent backing to the company throughout the evening. There were some memorable performances, so well done to Barbara for what was achieved.

Director/Choreographer, Louise Slaven's efforts gave the audience a well staged, slick and polished show, her choreography was good and quite stylish at times.

I am always reluctant to single out performances in this type of show, especially when all the company have given 100 % effort. However, the opening number " Day by Day " and in act two " Spend Spend Spend " I think particularly stood out. There was a lovely section from Phantom of the Opera " Phantom of the Opera " and " Think of Me " performed by Kev Aitken and Heather Bunnewell and Kev Aitken and Sophie Tranter, these two numbers I think were the highlight of the show. Special mention must go to Phil Mills for his hilarious rendition of " I'm too Sexy " and to the male chorus for the very funny " Baggy Trousers "

This production was technically sound, it had good sets and some really nice, colourful costumes. My only criticism during the evening is that the sound production could have been better at times, but this is only a small observation.

Overall this was an excellent production, which provided the audience with a very enjoyable evening. Well done to all the company !

Thank you to Kettering and District Theatrical Society for their wonderful hospitality during my visit to The Masque Theatre.
