A Lovely Night - Cabaret

With outstanding enthusiasm the company rallied an amazing array of talent to make their stage comeback, entertaining the town with a dazzling programme of show stopping songs. 

Part of the programme was a welcome warm up for the mini cabaret, highly polished to wow the NODA conference at the end of the month at Peebles Hydro. 

Amanda, Colin, Craig, Julie, Kirsty, Natalie, Rich, Ross, Sophie, Stuart and Tracy were the opening performers chosen to represent Selkirk in the mini production. 

They all displayed a standard of performance befitting a professional, slick  cabaret, in ‘A Night We’ll Never Forget’ through to ‘Wild, Wild Party’ ending with ‘Everybody’!

Superb  teamwork! Receiving a standing ovation for their many hours of dedicated rehearsal.

The cabaret was expertly put together by Musical Director Derek Calder and Choreographed by Stuart Mitchell, who also starred in the mini cabaret.

Taking other solos at the local presentation were other stalwarts Ian, Yvonne, Al and Robin, who, with  substantial choral input, produced a stunning evening of entertainment.

There were many highlights from a plethora of wonderful shows: West Side Story, Cabaret, Oliver, Dream Girls, Avenue Q, Oklahoma!,  Les Miserable to name but a few.

Solo highlights, ‘She Used To Be Mine’ (Amanda), ‘Starlight Express’ (Ross), ‘Cabaret’ (Stuart), ‘Maybe This Time’ (Yvonne), ‘There’s A Fine Fine Line’ (Kirsty), ‘Empty Chairs at Empty Tables’ (Craig), ‘As Long As He Needs Me’ (Wendy) were excellent, and duet ‘Dance With You’ (Amanda & Natalie) a revelation.

The company absolutely smashed it with their finale number ‘One Day More’, giving the audience good reason to raise the roof in applause. Massive Congratulations!
