A LIMELIGHT CHRISTMAS with friends was a Christmas themed compilation show and a collaboration of Limelight Basingstoke with Lisa Jane School of Dance and Theatre4Kids. With traditional songs, exuberant dances, touching solos, boisterous group musical numbers and and an enormous cast of youths and returning alumni, this was a packed show and truly something for everyone.
The performance space was decorated with a string of lights with large snowflakes hanging from it. There was a Christmas tree and presents and smoke gave it a wintery feel. The piano for some of the musical accompaniment was situated towards the back of the space.
There was an array of brightly coloured costumes. There were decorative jumpers, ‘uniform’ looks of t-shirts and trousers. Ballet dancers wore pink tutus with silver tinsel wasitbands and not forgetting the multiple Santa suits! The costumes really enhanced the show. The Special Guests were very smart.
This was a joyous show from start to finish. It had group numbers with small children dancing, singing and enjoying themselves. There were moving solos, show tunes, traditional songs and a section of beautiful ballet. Every member of the cast were totally engaged and the afternoon felt full of festive cheer. The lighting, special effects and music created a Christmas atmosphere. There were all the elements of Christmas: sparkling jumpers, twinkling lights, snowflakes, trees, presents and lots of red, green, gold and silver. There was movement, poise, excitement and energy. All in all a brilliant way to kick off the festive season.
