A farce written by Gordon Steel set in the front room of Frank & Jean`s modest home at the start of Christmas Eve through to the evening of Christmas Day with an exellent set designed by Mel Silver and built by Fran Silver, Brian Stead and Jeff Brown with appropriate properties managed by David Waite. The acting from every member of the cast was of a very high standard with good comic timing and pace. Frank (Chris Binns) and Jean (Jane Collins) were excellent as the hosts with Jean worried about what her `posh` sister Doreen (Judith Smith who gave a brilliant drunken scene) would think of the festivities. The neighbours from Hell kept entering with their kareoke and wanting everyone to sing. Gary (David Collins) & his wife Julie (Louise Timmins) had a ball with their characters and Doreen`s husband Harry (John Haywood) couldn`t take his eyes of Julie`s attributes. Doreen`s daughter Alex (Janine Head) gave a good account of a boorish teenager with boy friend problems and the only 2 sensible characters Milly, Jean & Frank`s daughter (Emma Stirk) and her boy friend Darren (Colin V. Siddal) provided some balast. The costumes were appropriate and lighting and sound added to the atmosphere. The whole was an excellent, comical play well handled by the cast and was thoroughly enjoyed by a sell out audience.
