What makes for ‘A Great Night Out’? Well according to the Good Companions Stage Society there are many different aspects involved in this concept. For some people it is the Getting Ready, for others, Happy Hour or A Night On The Town or attending an Evening Class, or the romance of Moonlight, or Dancing and going to a Discotheque. All of the afore mentioned  became the titles for the various sections of music, dance and sketches. The opening number, ‘Give me the night’ saw Duncan Leech taking a shower - he wasn’t wearing a fig leaf but there was one etched and very strategically placed on the shower screen!! Later, the other male members of the chorus, not to be outdone, appeared with just umbrellas for ‘cover’ and there was a real ‘ooh’ from the audience when one of them did the splits, however, he was wearing silver trunks! The whole show included about twenty six company numbers, plus solo items, many small group numbers, sketches and dances all costumed to a high standard. I must make mention of the final section ‘Disco Fever’. One song very nicely moved into the next, it was vibrant and energetic and with very colourful costumes it brought the evening to a very uplifting climax. Most of the items throughout involved movement and dancing and everyone must be congratulated on the hard work that they all must have put in to achieve this ‘Great Night Out’.
