This society keeps very busy at Christmas with not only their panto but a Christmas show running at the same time. This show, basically a concert of Christmas music, was really enjoyable. The first half consisted of traditional Christmas numbers such as Winter Wonderland and Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and included carols of the likes of Ding Dong Merrily On High and O Come All Ye Faithful, the audience having song sheets. The second half comprised more recent Christmas songs including A Winters Tale, Mistletoe and Wine and Last Christmas. The assembled cast sang well but the highlight for me was a beautiful rendition by Pauline Pope of Believe from Polar Express. However it was nearly spoilt by some poor upstaging going on behind her. Her diction was superb and was a real lesson for all performers, especially youngsters, in how to do it. The audience was enthusiastic throughout and probably knew every word so we all went home in a good Christmas mood.
